Under The Sea
The snorkeling in San Pedro was amazing. There were so many large underwater animals so close to the surface. This is in part
because of the famed Shark Ray Alley, where fishermen used
to dump their leftover chum, and where nurse sharks and rays still come looking for it. As our guide said, the boat engine
is like a dinner bell to them. As soon as the boat stopped, dozens of nurse sharks came swarming. We jumped in as soon as
possible to swim amongst them.
John, Caitlin, Kevin, and Morgane spent several days diving with Belize Pro
Divers and saw all sorts of underwater life: lobsters, eels, nurse sharks, reef sharks, barricuda, flounder, squid,
loggerhead turtles, green turtles, baby drumfish, trumpetfish, groupers, snappers, and more! These were Kevin's first dives
ever, and Morgane's first dives outside of Arizona. They did great, and Kevin got his
PADI Open Water Certification.
